End of an Era at Chelsea Academy
Weekly Report – Friday 18th November
Jon Kaufmann – 23rd November 2016Ernest Bevin College wasted no time in making amends for their surprise defeat in the Boys U13 Central London ESTTA Championships held at the Chelsea Academy on Friday. Not content to win the Under 16 boys event, they immediately went on to win the U19 event as well.
In the Under 16’s Ernest Bevin saw off a strong challenge from Sacred Heart RC School, while in the U19’s they were comfortable winners in the three-way tussle involving the Chelsea Academy and the Bishop Thomas Grant School.
Although not quite strong enough to compete against a very strong Ernest Bevin team, Chelsea (Parsa, Brandon, Kingsley, Ghassan) did perfom well enough to defeat the BTG team, winning 8-0 and earn themselves a chance to compete in the Jack Petchey finals in January. Congratulations also to the Holland Park girls (Arianna, Rose, Valentina and Colette) for winning the U16 girls event in a closely fought final against the Sacred Heart girls.
This weekend (Saturday) sees the start of the National Junior League, which is held at the London Academy in Edgware. West London Ping will have a massive fifty strong squad involving all of the WLP schools. Players are reminded to be at the venue well before the 9am start time and wearing the WLP club T-shirts.
And a reminder that the regular Friday evening Top Table resumes at Chelsea Academy this week after the three week break for the ESTTA tournaments.
Best regards to all. JK
