End of an Era at Chelsea Academy
RBKC win the top Division of the NJL for the first time
Eamon Brennan – 12th May 2016For the first time since entering this competition four years ago, the RBKC won the top division of what has become a highly competitive tournament.
Alex Ahl, Jacques Vander and Benji Mencer formed a formidable partnership and having worked their way up through the lower divisions proved just a touch too strong for their division one opponents. But it was close, very close. With nineteen points each Brighton and the RBKC were level at the top of the table with the RBKC coming out on top by the head to head rule. It’s so pleasing when those tight decisions go your way.
But it wasn’t just the RBKC A team that excelled that day. The RBKC won two other divisions and came second in yet another. So its hats off to Shahi, Abed, and Marco, winners of Division 4; to Ed Small, Arianna and Jaikalin, winners of Division 5. And in Division 3, Harry, Joseph and Bjorn played magnificently to come in second place.
And last but not least, its congratulations to Waqas, Jibreel, Harry and Theo from the Chelsea Academy B team for winning the Division 6b tournament. And to Eisah for winning the Boy’s Player of the Day award.
All in all it was a good day at the office for the entire RBKC squad.
